What is an economic calendar?

An economic calendar lists scheduled economic events and data releases — such as interest rate decisions, inflation reports, and employment figures — along with the date, time, expected value, and previous reading.

How do economic events affect markets?

When actual data beats expectations, it signals a stronger economy and typically strengthens the currency. When data misses, it can trigger sharp moves in forex, stocks, and commodities. High-impact events like Fed decisions or NFP carry the biggest moves.

What do the impact levels mean?

🔴 High impact events typically cause significant price volatility. 🟡 Medium impact events may cause moderate moves. ⚪ Low impact events usually have little effect on prices.

What is the difference between Actual, Forecast, and Previous?

Previous is the last released reading. Forecast is the market consensus estimate. Actual is the newly released figure. The market reaction depends on how much the actual differs from the forecast.
